Scottish Audio Show 2026: A Room Full of Music

There is something particularly rewarding about looking around a busy demonstration room and realising that people have settled in. They’ve heard the comparisons, asked their questions, and now they simply want to hear another track.

That was our experience at the Scottish Audio Show in Edinburgh on 31 October and 1 November. Returning for our second year, this time with a listening room, we thoroughly enjoyed a weekend of music, conversation and generous support.

For a small Scottish manufacturer, it was a proud occasion. Black Ravioli products are manufactured and assembled here in Scotland, on the banks of the River Leven, and it meant a great deal to share what we do with such an enthusiastic home audience.

The support that made our room possible

First and foremost, we want to thank the people who helped us bring the room together.

Moor Amps generously supplied the Angel 4 integrated amplifier and Ascalon 8 loudspeakers. Vinyl Passion loaned us the Gold Note phono stage, while The Chord Company supplied the cables connecting the system.

We couldn’t have taken on a listening room without their support. Their willingness to help gave us the opportunity to demonstrate Black Ravioli through a full loudspeaker system and introduce our products to a wider audience. We are sincerely grateful for their trust and generosity.

From demonstration to listening

Our room remained busy throughout the weekend. We demonstrated the Next Level Grounds on the Innuos music server and its linear power supply, the Moor Amps Angel 4 integrated amplifier, and the Gold Note phono stage.

For vinyl, our Technics SL-1200GR was fitted with the BR1200NL upgrade package, bringing our turntable feet and Next Level Record Ground together.

We began with comparisons, adding and removing the Next Level Grounds so visitors could hear the system with and without them. These sessions prompted questions, lively conversations and some wonderfully spontaneous reactions:

“It’s voodoo magic!”

“It’s amazing!”

“You’ve done it again, incredible.”

Hearing that enthusiasm was a pleasure. Giving people the opportunity to listen and reach their own conclusions is why we take these demonstrations to shows.

As the weekend progressed, the sessions evolved. We spent less time switching back and forth and more time playing music. Visitors settled into longer listening sessions, and the room took on a relaxed atmosphere.

With so much to explore around the exhibition, the time people chose to spend with us felt like one of the kindest compliments of the weekend. It was a reminder of what we hope to achieve: helping people find more enjoyment in their music and the equipment they already own.

A few very special thank yous

I was fortunate to have some excellent people beside me throughout the show.

My heartfelt thanks go to Martin Windebank for his time, help and support, and for photographing the weekend.

Ray Francois flew up from London to lend a hand. Ray first joined us at the London show, where he won our prize draw, and has since purchased a number of Next Level products. To have someone go from attending a demonstration to travelling to Scotland to help us present it to others was particularly touching. Thank you, Ray.

A special thank you also goes to Paul Beckett, designer of the ONKK Cue Slotless Direct Drive Vinyl Reproduction Machine. His knowledge, experience and practical help were invaluable, and I greatly appreciated having his support throughout the weekend.

Thank you to the Chester Group for organising the Scottish Audio Show, and particularly to Justin Bird for his support in helping us make the most of our return.

Thank you for listening, and for supporting us

To everyone who attended a demonstration, stayed for a listening session, asked a question or stopped for a chat: thank you. You made the room a welcoming and enjoyable place to spend the weekend.

An especially warm thank you goes to those who purchased our products. For a small business, that confidence means a great deal. We look forward to hearing about your experiences as you spend time listening at home.

We are also delighted to congratulate Julian Ravenscroft, ticket number 71, winner of our show prize draw. Julian wins a bottle of malt whisky and a 50% off Black Ravioli voucher. Congratulations, Julian, and thank you to everyone who entered.

We came away from Edinburgh encouraged, grateful and full of enthusiasm for what comes next. Our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make it such a memorable weekend.

Hear it in your own system

If you couldn’t join us at the show, or would like to explore what you heard a little further, our Next Level range is available with a 30-day home audition.

Take the time to listen with your own equipment, in your own room, with the music you know and love. We’re happy to help you choose where to begin.
