Article: Black Ravioli at the Scottish Audio Show

Black Ravioli at the Scottish Audio Show

Black Ravioli at the Scottish Audio Show

We’re looking forward to returning to our home show for a second year.

On 31 October and 1 November, we’ll be back at The Scottish Audio Show at the DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh Airport, bringing both of the demonstrations that proved so popular at the StereoNET UK Hi-Fi & AV Expo in London.

You’ll find us in the Trade Space, where we’ll be running demonstrations throughout the weekend. There will be exclusive show-only deals and a prize draw for participants, with a few surprises planned for the Halloween weekend.

Where it started

Last year’s Edinburgh show was an important first for Black Ravioli. We had previously been represented by retailers, but this was our first opportunity to run our own live comparison and let visitors hear the products for themselves.

We brought two Technics turntables: one standard, the other fitted with our grounding products. Visitors could switch between them through headphones and decide what they heard.

Over the weekend, we ran more than 50 demonstrations. The warmth of the welcome, the curiosity and the conversations afterwards gave us a tremendous amount of encouragement.

Our Edinburgh show write-up ended with a promise to take the demonstration on the road. Encouraged by that first weekend, this year we added the StereoNET UK Hi-Fi & AV Expo in London to our show calendar, alongside our return to Scotland.

Adding London to the calendar

Travelling to Heathrow for the StereoNET Expo was a big undertaking for our small family business, but the response made it worthwhile.

This time, we had two demonstrations: our Technics analogue comparison and a digital demonstration using Next Level Grounds on an Innuos ZENmini Mk3 and its separate power supply.

Both kept us busy throughout the weekend. The digital demonstration, in particular, produced some memorable reactions, many of which we’re now sharing as we work through the footage.

As I wrote in our London show round-up, it meant a great deal to meet people who had come specifically to hear our demonstrations. The encouragement we received over those two days has stayed with us.

This year, visitors to the Scottish show will be able to try both demonstrations.

What we’ll be demonstrating

For vinyl listeners our two Technics SL-1200GR turntables return. One runs as standard; the other is fitted with BR1200 Next Level Grounding Feet and the Next Level Record Ground. Matching copies of the same record allow you to switch directly between the two through HiFiMAN headphone amplification and headphones.

For digital listeners we’ll demonstrate our Next Level Grounds on the Innuos ZENmini Mk3 and its separate power supply, introducing and removing the Grounds so you can hear the comparison for yourself.

We’re also working on a possible twist to the Next Level Ground demonstration. I won’t give anything away just yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing what people make of it.

Whether you joined us last year, saw us in London or haven’t heard our products before, you’re very welcome to come and try them. We’ll be happy to answer your questions and hear what you think.

Offers and prizes over the weekend

We’ll be running demonstrations throughout both days, with exclusive show-only deals available over the weekend.

Anyone taking part in a demonstration will have the chance to enter our prize draw for a bottle of whisky. There will also be  a special prize, which we’ll reveal at the show.

As a Scottish family business, we want to support our home show. We were made to feel very welcome last year, and it will be good to catch up with familiar faces as well as meet people who couldn’t join us then.

Looking ahead to 2027, we’re hoping to return to both the Scottish Audio Show and the StereoNET Expo in London, and add the Dublin exhibition over the weekend of 3 and 4 April to our calendar too. Those plans aren’t confirmed yet, but we’d love to make all three part of next year’s calendar.

Join us in the Trade Space on 31 October and 1 November. Admission to the show is complimentary with advance registration through the Scottish Audio Show website.

I hope you’ll come along for a listen and a chat. We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
